Light, Art, Commerce – on both sides of the Atlantic
International participants in the series “A New Light – A New World” will be highlighting the subject of light and light art in the USA at the beginning of the 20th Century within the context of consumerism, culture and society. A dynamic and intensive exchange between Europe and the USA has influenced developments up until the present day. “A New Light – A New World” is a series of events by Museum Villa Stuck and B.A.Z. Amerika Haus in cooperation with the U.S. Consulate General Munich on the occasion of the exhibition “A New Light on Tiffany. Clara Driscoll and the Tiffany Girls” at Museum Villa Stuck. The magazine AD Architectural Digest will be the media partner for this series of events.

Reading by John Haskell
John Haskell has worked as an actor, scriptwriter and performance artist in Chicago und New York. He currently lives in Brooklyn. His first novel “American Purgatorio” was published in 2006. On the occasion of the series “A New Light – A New World” John Haskell will be reading from new works.

On the occasion of the series of events “A New Light – A New World” Prof. Welskopp will be speaking about youth culture and gender relations as well as urban consumerism in the Roaring Twenties in America.

Light – Light Art, Europe – USA
The internationally renowned designers of lights Ingo Maurer (biography as PDF - www.ingo-maurer.com), Hervé Descottes (www.lobsintl.com) and the artist rosalie will be discussing with Sabine Reeh from the radio station Bayerischer Rundfunk light and light art in relation to architecture, design, the visual arts and psychology.
